PiYo Sweat Workout Review
At the S.S. Beachbody Cruise, Beachbody officially unveiled PiYo, Chalene Johnson’s new workout! As an Elite Beachbody Coach, I received an exclusive copy of PiYo Sweat to try out before everyone else!
PiYo Sweat was designed to get your blood moving and heart racing. We just finished the workout and I have to say, it is one of the most intense forms of Yoga and Pilates I have ever done.
Let me answer some of the pressing questions around PiYo right away before I go into detail on the PiYo Sweat workout. Yes PiYo will be one of the most incredible workouts to come from Beachbody and Chalene Johnson. Yes PiYo will get incredible results. Yes PiYo takes the best of Yoga and Pilates to create the ultimate workout for strength., flexibility, and endurance.
How Does PiYo Sweat Work?
PiYo Sweat really gets you going and sweating. It's based on a series of Pilates and Yoga moves done in rapid succession to get your heart rate going, and your body sweating. It is a 32 minute workout with a 5 minute warm-up so total time you need is 37 minutes. One of the things I love the most about all of Chalene’s workouts is that she actually does the ENTIRE workout. You won’t see her stopping at all. PiYo Sweat is no different as Chalene effortlessly talks to you and explains everything you are doing. This is really her gift. She explains exactly what she doing so you don't have to even look up to the TV that much as you do the workout.
PiYo Heat is what kicks things off after the Warm-Up, followed by Lower Body for 11 minutes. With Lower Body PiYo you can use a chair if you need help with some balance. Plank and Core PiYo follows for 6 minutes. I loved the PiYo push-ups!
At about 8 minutes and 30 seconds left in the workout, Chalene Johnson starts the PiYo Power section of the workout that really gets you going. Some light jumping and high impact moves make it's way into the workout that can really help you take things to the next level. Think a mixture of Pilates, Yoga, and some burpees. The positive affirmations just keep coming from Chalene that really makes the program enjoyable. “Your so awesome! Nice job! You can do anything!”
The last 5 minutes and 30 seconds of the workout are all about stretching and strength. The corner stone of PiYo. Strength, core, cardio.
PiYo Sweat has a great modifier in the program so if you are finding some of the movements challenging, you can follow the modifier. There are three others doing the workout alongside Chalene Johnson in PiYo Sweat.
